DOL describes it as "an industry-driven training model that can provide a critical talent pipeline for the education system by streamlining and combining on-the-job (or in classroom) learning with the related academic instruction," covering K-12 teachers, principals, teacher aides and early childhood educators. The common misunderstanding: people assume the only route into teaching is paying for a degree first and student-teaching unpaid. The apprenticeship route inverts that — you work in the classroom while completing the preparation. Confirm the funding terms with the district, because they vary and the national page does not state them.

For 16-to-24-year-olds who left school without a diploma, YouthBuild delivers the secondary credential itself while the participant works on affordable housing construction. The common misunderstanding: that it is a GED prep class with a job attached. The education is the point; the construction work is the delivery mechanism and the pre-apprenticeship on-ramp.
